Escalera AI – Snappit Ecosystem & Website
Effective Date: 01.09.2025
Last Updated: 08.08.2026
Escalera AI SL ("Escalera AI," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you use the Snappit ecosystem of mobile apps and websites, which includes: the main Snappit App (iOS and Android) and our standalone Kids Apps — Snap Maps, Snap Memory, Snap Quiz, Snap Handwriting, Snap Spelling, Snap Math, and Snap Reading (collectively, the "Services").
By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services.
Important Distinction: Main App vs. Kids Apps
To protect our users and comply strictly with COPPA (US), GDPR-K (EU), and Apple's Kids Category Guidelines, we strictly separate data collection based on the app you are using:
- The Main Snappit App & Website: Collects broader data (such as photos and precise location) to ensure core functionality for general audiences.
- Our Kids Apps (Snap Maps, Snap Memory, Snap Quiz, Snap Handwriting, Snap Spelling, Snap Math, and Snap Reading): We do not ask children to create accounts or provide names, contact details, or location. These apps contain no advertising or cross-app tracking and can be used without an account. An adult may choose, behind a parental gate, to use a Parent Account, cloud sync, purchases, or content-creation features as described below.
1. Personal Data (Applies to Main App, Web, and Adult Parent Accounts)
Information that identifies you as an individual or can be used to contact you. This may include:
- Identity Data: First name, last name, username or similar identifier, title, age or parental consent status.
- Contact Data: Email address, telephone number (if provided), postal or billing address (if applicable).
- Technical Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, app-installation or device identifiers, login and session data, device and operating-system information, app version, locale, and approximate location inferred by service providers for sign-in, security, analytics, or app functionality.
- Marketing & Communications Data: Your preferences for receiving marketing from us. (Note: We never market to children, and this is never collected in our Kids Apps).
2. Usage Data & Analytics
Information about how you interact with and use our Services, collected automatically:
- Pages, screens, or features you access.
- The time and date of visits, time spent on features, and navigation paths.
- Website analytics: On the Snappit website, Google Analytics helps us understand page use. Analytics storage is enabled by default unless you decline analytics. Advertising storage and advertising-use signals remain denied. Your choice is stored in a first-party preference cookie for 180 days. You can reopen "Analytics preferences" in the website footer and opt out or change your choice at any time.
- SDK Service Data: Google Sign-In, Firebase, and on-device Google ML Kit components may process identifiers, approximate location, product interaction, usage, performance, and other diagnostic or service data for authentication, security, analytics, and app functionality. This data is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Diagnostic Data: We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor stability and investigate crashes. Crash reports may include a pseudonymous app-installation identifier, device and operating-system information, app version, stack traces, and relevant app state. We do not collect the Apple Advertising ID (IDFA), use this data for advertising, or track users across other companies' apps or websites.
3. Content, Progress & Location Data
Information related to what you submit and where you use the Services:
- Content Data: Photos, videos, journal entries, or collections you upload.
- Kids App Parent Features: When an adult enables an optional Parent Account or cloud feature, we may store account identifiers, purchase entitlements, learning or reading progress, and content the adult chooses to create or sync. In Snap Reading this can include book text, selected photos or artwork, voice recordings, reading progress, and prompts submitted for parent-initiated book or illustration generation.
- Location Data: Approximate or precise location information, used to suggest nearby Adventures and to tag where snaps were taken. (Note: Precise location is never collected in our standalone Kids Apps).
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Services, identify items in uploaded photos, personalize collections, provide support, ensure safety, and conduct anonymous analytics (like crash reporting) to improve performance.
5. Sharing of Information & Third-Party Advertising
We do not sell your personal information. None of our apps contain third-party advertising or behavioral tracking. We may share information with:
- Service Providers: Google Firebase provides authentication, databases, storage, cloud functions, and crash reporting; RevenueCat processes in-app purchase status and entitlements; Apple and Google provide sign-in or store purchase services; and Google Gemini processes prompts or images only when an adult initiates an AI content feature. These providers process data only to deliver the requested service under their applicable terms and privacy safeguards.
- Legal Compliance: Authorities or regulators when required by law or to protect user safety.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
We strictly comply with COPPA, GDPR-K, and App Store Guidelines regarding children's data.
- No Child Account Required: Children can use the local, age-appropriate features of our Kids Apps (Snap Maps, Snap Memory, Snap Quiz, Snap Handwriting, Snap Spelling, Snap Math, and Snap Reading) without creating an account or providing contact or location information.
- Optional Parent Accounts and Cloud Features: An adult may pass a parental gate and choose to sign in. We may then process the adult's name, email address, account identifier, purchase history or entitlements, synced learning progress, and content the adult chooses to upload or create. These features are optional and are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Main Snappit App: Where broader data collection is required for functionality in the main app, accounts for children under 13 require verified parental consent. Parents may review, update, or delete their child's information at any time.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us.
8. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure storage, and limited employee access.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, update, or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent.
