Odagoe to Hayachine summit and back
Begin at Odagoe and follow the signed summit trail through the lower forest into rocky alpine ground. The official map shows the fifth-station rock area, the upper metal ladders and the final summit approach. Return by the same route. Enjoy the changing vegetation on the way up; on the way down, save enough attention for loose or slippery footholds rather than treating the summit as the end of the day.
The tourism association gives about 5 hours for the mountain round trip. Its figure excludes the road walk from Kawaranobo parking: the city gives about 2 kilometres and 40–50 minutes each way for that additional leg. Add breaks and a generous margin; start early enough for daylight.
Exposed rock, ladders and uneven mountain ground; unsuitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
