Camino Viejo del Puerto: the main first-visit walk
The municipal route starts at the roundabout before Hospital Virgen del Puerto. Follow Avenida de Portugal east; after about 300 metres, turn left into Ciudad Jardín and continue to the gate onto the old path. The paving descends towards the Arroyo de la Data, followed by a sustained climb to the Santuario de la Virgen del Puerto. The opening streets and gate matter: use this documented approach rather than a convenient-looking gap in a fence.
The sanctuary setting is the turning point. The municipality describes a circular outing and allows a return either along the same path or using the pavement beside the sanctuary road. Decide between them using current conditions and your group’s footing. The published distance is approximate; do not assume both return variants measure exactly the same. Allow 2–3 hours including stops, and carry the official description offline.
Rated low difficulty by the municipality, but still an uphill walk with irregular old paving. Expect the descent to need as much attention as the climb. No verified step-free specification, surveyed gradients or accessible toilet information is available for this route.
