Start on land beside the KD landing stage. Explore the public paths among the rose beds and choose a comfortable turnaround; keep river-watching stops on shore.

About
Come to Braubach’s Rosengarten for roses beside the Rhine, with Marksburg rising above the town behind you. Start around the KD landing stage and let the flower beds set the pace: stop for a close look, turn towards the river, then find some tree shade. The garden forms part of the Rheinanlagen, including the Bodo-Ebhardt-Anlagen, so it fits naturally into a day exploring Braubach.
One rose has a particularly local story. ‘Zauber der Loreley’ was bred in nearby Boppard for the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Its flowers blend pink, cream and pale yellow, with a classic rose scent. Look for its name on a plant label rather than trying to identify it by colour alone; other garden roses can look similar. Unlock an interactive field guide for this spot: get the Snappit app to identify nature on the go.
Braubach’s reputation as a rose town began with Johann Dennert (1863–1932), a ticket seller for the Rhine’s ‘White Fleet’, who planted roses along the overgrown waterfront. The tradition continued: ‘Zauber der Loreley’ received its name in Braubach in summer 2010. The third and final phase of the Rheinanlagen’s renovation was completed in 2018.
What to do here
Try a gentle-paced out-and-back from the shore-side KD landing-stage area into the rose gardens. Follow whichever public garden paths appeal to you, pause to compare blooms, then return along those same paths to the KD area. This is a flexible visit, with no fixed kilometre distance. For children, give everyone a different colour to find and photograph without stepping into the beds. Finish by watching the river: can you spot the difference between a passenger vessel and a cargo ship?
Seasonal info
Outside the flowering season, make the Rhine views the focus. The riverside also hosts town events, so check Braubach’s calendar if you want a quiet visit. From 10 July to 12 December 2026, railway works affect arrival in Braubach: use the replacement-bus information and check your journey in DB Navigator before travelling.
Accessibility
The B42 and railway separate the riverside gardens from the old town. Follow the signed pedestrian connections. If you need a step-free approach, ask the tourist information which route currently suits your wheelchair or pushchair, and check toilet arrangements. The suggested garden walk does not include the climb to Marksburg.

Walks and routes
Retrace your garden paths to the same KD landing-stage area, then add the separate return to your bus stop, station or parking place.
Check surfaces and kerbs along the garden paths; a continuous step-free route is not promised.
Follow local barriers and warnings, especially during high water or maintenance.
Things to try
Make a tiny rose portrait
Photograph a whole bloom, then a detail of its petals, from the path. Compare the pictures at home rather than taking a flower with you.
In steady rain, shorten the outing and choose an open café in the old town rather than relying on garden shelter.
Wildlife and habitats
Roses (Rosa): compare a tight bud with a fully open flower and try framing a bloom with Marksburg in the background. These are cultivated garden roses. ‘Zauber der Loreley’ is a named garden variety, not a separate botanical species; its pink, cream and yellow tones are a clue, but a label is the better way to confirm it. Flowering and individual plants can change.
Getting there and practical advice
For toilet options and individual access questions, contact Tourist-Information Braubach, Rathausstraße 8, on +49 2627 976001.
KD gives about 10 minutes on foot from Braubach station to its landing stage, one way, separate from the garden visit. During the 2026 closure, check your actual replacement-bus stop before planning the walk. KD lists parking by the B42 city wall and at the river; follow current signs.
