The site now known as Wild Country Safari Park was originally established as High Delta Safari Park, a 40-acre drive-thru safari park located in Delhi, Louisiana. It was known for featuring exotic and endangered species, and at one point boasted large herds of white-bearded wildebeest and scimitar-horned oryx, and claimed to be a licensed breeder of the endangered Barasingha deer. However, the High Delta Safari Park faced bankruptcy and was eventually auctioned off on November 21, 2009. Following its closure, the park was purchased by new ownership and subsequently reopened as Wild Country Safari Park, relocating to nearby Epps, Louisiana. The new park expanded upon the previous attractions, adding an enhanced petting zoo and an interactive small animal and reptile room.
