A first visit through the garden
Allow 1–1½ hours. Begin at the house porch and its model, then ask for the way to the Imperial Palm. Spend time looking at the relationship between the main stem, offshoots and support structure. Continue through the collection areas that interest you, including the Rocalla and ponds, and finish with a closer look at the palm-lined paths. This is a suggested sequence within the garden, not a waymarked circuit; follow the visitor paths and reception’s directions rather than expecting numbered trail signs.
Choose the alternative paths indicated by staff where steps or slopes interrupt your preferred line. For a shorter wheelchair or pushchair visit, select the easiest connection to the Imperial Palm first, then decide how much of the collection to add.
