For a woodland outing with children, choose Komfort-Wanderweg 4, the 3.8 km Rundweg Trienzbachtal near Elztal-Dallau. Start at Wanderparkplatz Trienzbachtal and follow the pink-circle waymarks. The route passes the Wurzelino woodland figure, a forest-rest station, stream crossings and a Kneipp water-treading facility. Four QR-code stops offer family audio, children’s audio from age five and videos in German Sign Language. The asphalt and compacted-gravel surfaces are step-free, but there are several slopes, reaching 12%; save energy for the uphill return to the car park.
For a gentler landscape, take Komfort-Wanderweg 5, Rundweg Neckartal, from Campingplatz Cimbria in Neckarzimmern. The approximately 4.4 km circuit heads through fields towards Mosbach and returns beside the Neckar, with views towards Burg Hornberg. It is asphalted and has benches. Its access assessment records slopes up to 6%, so allow for some pushing or assistance rather than assuming a completely level circuit. The Dreschhalle offers an alternative start with a designated disabled parking space.
For keen walkers, Eberbach’s approximately 10 km Pfad der Flussgeschichte begins at the Naturpark-Zentrum, threads through the old town and climbs onto the Breitenstein. Fifteen interpretation boards help you recognise earlier courses of the Neckar. With younger children, explore the first four town panels as a short, self-chosen introduction and turn back before committing to the hill section.
On a wet day, reserve a guided visit to Eberstadter Tropfsteinhöhle at Höhlenweg 8 in Buchen-Eberstadt. The cave is 600 m long, and the tour takes about an hour. Bring a warm layer for the constant 11°C underground, and let children finish at the visitor centre’s cave slide or, if the weather improves, the outdoor playground.
