ZooQuarium offered a unique blend of marine and land wildlife on Cape Cod. During its operation, this 7-acre attraction in West Yarmouth invited visitors to discover an array of animals from both the sea and land. It was a family-friendly destination where guests could observe playful sea lions and graceful seals, often featured in live shows that were a highlight for many. Beyond the aquatic displays, the venue also housed a diverse collection of land animals, including a petting zoo with friendly farm animals and indigenous fauna. The ZooQuarium aimed to blend entertainment with educational experiences, featuring exhibits like "A Walk Through the Cape Cod Woods," which showcased local creatures, and the "Zoorific theater" offering live animal education programs. With hands-on activities in its children's discovery center, it provided an engaging experience for young explorers to learn about wildlife and ecological preservation. The ZooQuarium on Cape Cod opened in 1969 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, originally known as the Aquarium of Cape Cod or Aqua Circus. For over four decades, it served as a popular family attraction, providing a home to a variety of aquatic and land animals. The facility featured sea lion shows and a petting zoo, among other exhibits. In December 2013, the family-owned petting zoo and aquarium closed permanently, with its operators citing a difficult decision. Most of the animals were successfully relocated to other farms or animal centers in the Northeast. The property was later purchased in 2016 by underwater explorer Barry Clifford and transformed into the Whydah Pirate Museum II, which opened in its place.
