Kula Botanical Garden was established in 1968 by Warren and Helen McCord. Initially, it served as a display garden for Warren's landscape architecture business, showcasing his design prowess. Its beauty quickly gained recognition, leading to its official opening to the public in 1971. The garden holds the distinction of being Maui's first public garden. It has since evolved from a modest landscape display into a cherished botanical sanctuary, still managed and maintained by the McCord family today. This family dedication ensures the garden remains true to its founding principles of horticultural passion and environmental education.
