Out of Africa Wildlife Park was originally founded in 1988 by Dean and Prayeri Harrison in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Their mission was to unite people, animals, and nature within a natural setting. In 2005, to accommodate its expanding animal collection and growing number of visitors, the park relocated to its current 104-acre home in Camp Verde, Arizona. The Harrisons' vision was to create a sanctuary where animals could thrive in expansive, natural-style habitats, and their commitment to rescuing animals in need has been a cornerstone of the park's philosophy. The park frequently takes in rescued animals, such as an orphaned mountain lion cub transferred there in April 2024.
