Ohio Caverns is celebrated as "America's Most Colorful Caverns," showcasing an extraordinary subterranean world of vibrant geological formations. As the largest cave system in Ohio, it offers a unique journey through ancient limestone carved over millennia, maintaining a comfortable 54°F (12°C) year-round regardless of outside weather. This captivating natural attraction provides an immersive experience into the Earth's hidden beauty.
Visitors can traverse nearly two miles of illuminated passageways through various guided tours, each revealing distinct marvels. The Natural Wonder Tour highlights breathtaking speleothems, including towering stalactites, graceful stalagmites, delicate soda straws, and intricate flowstone formations, often featuring the celebrated "Crystal King"—a magnificent, pure white stalactite spanning nearly five feet. Meanwhile, the Historic Tour delves into the caverns' rich past, exploring sections first opened to the public in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Throughout the caverns, dazzling arrays of natural colors emerge from mineral deposits like iron oxide, manganese dioxide, and calcite, painting the underground landscape in reds, oranges, blues, purples, blacks, and brilliant whites.
Beyond the geological splendor, Ohio Caverns offers an engaging and educational adventure for all ages, revealing the immense timescales involved in its creation. The diverse tour options ensure a memorable visit, catering to interests from scientific exploration to historical intrigue. Above ground, a well-maintained 35-acre park complements the underground experience with additional amenities such as picnic areas, a playground, and gem mining, making it a perfect destination for a day of discovery. Take the ultimate field guide with you: use the Snappit app to identify birds, plants, and animals on your trip.

Summer (May 1 - September 30): Both the Natural Wonder and Historic Tours are offered, either individually or as a discounted combo. The Limestone Tour for limited mobility visitors is also available during this period by reservation.
Winter (October 1 - April 30): A single Winter Tour (or Extended Winter Tour) is available, combining highlights from both summer tours and often including a section not shown during the summer season.

Dress in layers
The cavern maintains a cool 54°F (12°C) year-round, so bring a jacket or sweater, even in summer.
Wear appropriate footwear
Opt for comfortable, closed-toe shoes with good traction, as pathways can be wet and uneven.
Arrive early
Especially during peak season, arriving early can help avoid long wait times and ensure availability for preferred tour slots. Online tickets are limited.

Capture the underground beauty, but note that video recording is generally not permitted on tours.
Use a baby carrier for young children
Strollers are not recommended due to narrow passages and stairs; a baby carrier is a better alternative for infants and toddlers.

The delicate geological formations can be damaged by the oils and dirt from human hands, so it's crucial to observe the "no touching" rule.
No food or drinks inside
