Enjoy walking, hiking, and trail running on the extensive trail network (nearly 12 miles total). Visit the historic buildings, interact with farm animals, explore the education garden, and shop at the farm store. Attend seasonal events, culinary workshops, and farm-based educational programs. Birdwatching is also a popular activity, especially for grassland birds and migrating species.
Birdwatching: Spring and fall offer excellent opportunities for migrating birds. The Great Pasture is crucial for nesting Bobolinks and Meadowlarks from mid-May to early September.
Events: Look for annual "Farm Days" and Oktoberfest in the fall, and maple sugaring season in the winter.
Public restrooms are available in the Carriage Barn. Accessible parking spots are located at the Old House/Farm Offices and the Grass Rides. Some trails around the Farmstead, Old House, and Farm Store are wide, flat, dirt roads that might be considered wheelchair friendly. Appleton Farms is also Autism Welcoming, offering calming kits and social stories.
