Six Flags Wild Safari Adventure offers an immersive journey into the heart of global wildlife. This expansive safari park, adjacent to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, spans 350 acres and is home to nearly 1,200 animals from six continents. Visitors embark on a guided off-road adventure aboard rugged, open-air vehicles, encountering diverse species in simulated natural habitats. Knowledgeable guides enhance the experience by sharing fascinating facts and insights into conservation efforts, making each tour both educational and memorable.
The Safari Off Road Adventure features distinct geographical regions, including The Americas, Afrikka, Wilde Plains, and Tigris Asiana, showcasing a remarkable array of creatures. Guests can marvel at majestic African elephants, towering reticulated giraffes, and powerful white rhinoceroses in the Afrikka section. The Tigris Asiana area introduces visitors to impressive Bengal and Siberian tigers, while the Wilde Plains are home to large antelopes like the common eland. The Americas section provides views of American bison and Roosevelt elk, offering a comprehensive world wildlife tour.
Beyond the main safari tour, the venue now features a Safari Base Camp, providing opportunities for closer animal encounters with smaller species, reptiles, and birds. This unique blend of a vast safari drive, walk-through exhibits, and educational programming makes Six Flags Wild Safari Adventure an unforgettable destination. It offers a chance to connect with nature, witness incredible biodiversity, and create lasting memories with family and friends, all while contributing to wildlife appreciation and conservation. Don't forget to bring the Snappit nature identification app along to scan local species.
Six Flags Wild Safari Adventure first opened its gates to the public on July 4, 1974, initially operating as a drive-through safari park where visitors could use their private vehicles. For nearly four decades, it remained a popular self-guided experience. However, on September 30, 2012, the park transitioned from a private vehicle drive-through to the "Safari Off Road Adventure," an attraction that became integrated with the adjacent Six Flags Great Adventure theme park. This reimagined experience, which opened on May 25, 2013, utilized open-air safari vehicles driven by park employees. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the attraction temporarily reverted to a drive-through experience for private vehicles in May 2020, offering a contact-free way for guests to enjoy the animals. For the 2024 season, Six Flags Wild Safari Adventure returned to its guided tour format, featuring the "Safari Off Road Adventure" with its open-air vehicles. This reinvention also introduced a new Safari Base Camp and the Savannah Sunset Resort, enhancing the overall guest experience and solidifying its status as a premier wildlife destination.
Board the open-air safari vehicles to witness diverse wildlife like African elephants, reticulated giraffes, white rhinos, lions, tigers, and American bison roaming freely in large enclosures. Listen to informative guides who provide educational commentary on the species and conservation. At Safari Base Camp, explore interactive exhibits, grab a snack, or find unique animal-themed souvenirs.
Animal activity can vary with weather; cooler temperatures, especially in the mornings, often encourage more active animal behavior. Always check the official Six Flags website for the most up-to-date operating schedules, as hours may change seasonally.
The Safari Off Road Adventure is designed to be wheelchair accessible. Guests using wheelchairs can access the Safari line and are accommodated with specially equipped vehicles, though waiting for one may be necessary. Six Flags offers an Attraction Accessibility Program, and guests can obtain an IBCCES Accessibility Card for necessary accommodations.
