## Zoo d'Amnéville: A Wild Escape in the Heart of Grand Est

Nestled in the picturesque Moselle valley, between the vibrant city of Metz and the Luxembourg border, Zoo d'Amnéville offers an immersive journey into the animal kingdom. As one of France's premier zoological parks, it boasts a remarkable collection of over 2,000 animals representing 360 species from all five continents, spread across 18 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds. More than just a viewing experience, the zoo is dedicated to conservation and education, providing specially adapted environments that highlight the incredible diversity of our planet's wildlife.

Visitors can explore a variety of meticulously crafted themed areas, each transporting them to a different corner of the globe. Wander through the vast African Plain to witness majestic elephants, white rhinoceroses, and towering giraffes coexisting with zebras. Dive into the lush Amazon Jungle, where jaguars, maned wolves, tapirs, and colorful marmosets thrive amidst exotic flora and a stunning 9-meter waterfall. Don't miss the impressive Gorilla's Camp, one of the largest gorilla facilities in Europe, or the Orangutan Jungle, designed to evoke Sumatra's equatorial forests. Engaging shows, such as the spectacular free-flying birds of prey and the playful sea lion presentations, further enhance the educational and entertainment value of a visit.

Zoo d'Amnéville is an unforgettable destination for all ages, offering a perfect blend of wonder, discovery, and commitment to animal well-being. Beyond observing the animals, the park provides opportunities for interactive experiences like guided feedings and educational activities, allowing for a deeper connection with wildlife. With its continuous efforts in species preservation, particularly for over 40 endangered species including Siberian tigers and gorillas, a visit here not only promises a day of enchantment but also supports vital conservation missions. The Zoo d'Amnéville was founded in 1986 by Michel Louis, driven by a lifelong passion for animals, alongside Jean-Marc Vichard. It initially opened its doors on June 28, 1986, with approximately 200 animals. Over the decades, the park has undergone significant expansion and development, continually adding new themed areas and species. Key milestones include the creation of the African area in the early 2000s, welcoming elephants, giraffes, zebras, and later white rhinoceroses. The "American Forest" opened in 2004, introducing species like arctic wolves, bisons, and lynxes, while "Sea Lion Bay" with its large arena for shows debuted in 2005. The Orangutan Jungle, a large indoor and outdoor facility, was completed in 2007, solidifying the zoo's reputation as a leader in animal habitats. Its growth has positioned it as one of the most visited zoological parks in France.
