SeaWorld Orlando opened its gates on December 15, 1973, as the third park in the SeaWorld chain, two years after Walt Disney World Resort's Magic Kingdom. Founded by George Millay, the park was strategically located in Central Florida to capitalize on the region's burgeoning tourism. Initially focusing on marine animal shows and exhibits, the park's ownership changed hands in 1976 to Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, and then in 1989 to Anheuser-Busch. Under Anheuser-Busch's guidance, SeaWorld Orlando evolved aggressively, integrating thrill rides with its animal habitats, such as Journey to Atlantis and Wild Arctic, blending entertainment with immersive animal experiences.
