The Paseo Arts District, originally known as the Spanish Village, was established in 1929 by G.A. Nichols as the first commercial shopping district north of downtown Oklahoma City. Its initial businesses included shops, restaurants, and even a swimming pool. The distinctive Spanish Revival architecture, characterized by stucco exteriors and clay tile roofs, has been meticulously preserved, contributing to its unique character. The district formally transitioned into Oklahoma's first arts district in the 1970s, spurred by the formation of the Paseo Arts Association in 1982.
