Fish

Dive into the underwater world of fish — the most diverse group of vertebrates on Earth.

Fish have been swimming Earth's waters for over 500 million years, making them far older than dinosaurs. They've evolved an extraordinary range of adaptations — from the electric shocks of electric eels and the bioluminescent lures of deep-sea anglerfish to the remarkable camouflage of flatfish and the speed of sailfish. Fish use lateral lines to sense vibrations in the water, and many species can detect electrical fields generated by other animals. Whether in coral reefs teeming with colour, frigid polar waters, or the crushing darkness of ocean trenches, fish have conquered virtually every aquatic habitat on the planet.
